Sun protection films can be used on single
or double glazing.
If you wish to use a film on overhead-, double respectively Sun protection
glass we highly recommend one of our many outdoor films.
Indoor films have the great advantage- their durability of 10 to 15 years! On the other hand however they have a drawback when used on double glazing. The area between the two glass panels will heat up due to the sun light, which does not get reflected until passing through both panes of glass.
The films adsorptive capacity and the material of which these are made of entail the positive side effect that the room's temperature can climb to slightly over the normal level (with a solar protection film fitted), similar to a greenhouse. This effect, especially using lighter solar protection foils (Silver 50, Silver 35 & Carlie Brown) will help reduce heating costs during winter. For a nice cool room in summer and less coldness in winter please follow this guideline: Only ventilate mornings and evenings and if possible, keep the windows closed during daytime. For more info please see our FAQ page.
Outdoor films have the advantage of their better sun reflection, yet their durability, due to outside influences, is limited to 4 to 10 years max. Fitting these there will be (hardly) no heating of the space between the glass panels when using these with double glazing. Double glazing windows filled with gas and angular skylights should only be fitted with outdoor protection films, as with these a glass breakage can more easily occur. More information on how to fit films in a professional manner you may find here.
All of our solar protection films can be removed residuelessly. We offer a large variety from very light, over middle to dark shadings (Silber 50, Silber 35 & Silber 15). In addition you should now that dark foils offer a greater heat protection and mirror effect. Exemptions are infrared films - they have no mirror effect and barely any reflection, hence they are hardly noticeable however provide an infrared shield of approx. 70% and a light- transmission of approx. 60%. For these reason our infrared films belong to our premiums segment.
Our high- quality & certified films have a guarantee of 10 (indoor) respectively 4-5 (outdoor) years. We are only able to guarantee the extremely long period on our outdoor films due to their thickness of 82-96µm, which is not the norm in the industry.
